During the wonderful time of the 1989’s there were many songs that changed Australia. Songs Such as “like a Vergin” by modona. This song is a clear representation of the greatness that Australia possess to be on the top of the charts for world renowned music. Others Australian bands such as AC/DC and INXS were bands that changed Australia for the better, due to there being a huge rise of rock bands in Australia along, and there was finally a couple of bands that put Australia of the map for musical talent. Australian rock, also called Oz rock, is used to describe the music style used by various rock and many pop bands and solo artists from Australia. The nation has a rich history of rock music and an appreciation of the roots of various rock genres, usually originating in the United States or Britain, but also Ireland, continental Europe and more recently the musical styles of Africa. Some people would say that this decade was the best decade for Australian music, the turn of the music in Australia, if you will.
Since the 1980s, Australia has produced a number of local and internationally popular TV soap operas. These have spawned a large number of pop stars. In 1986, the pop group The Chantoozies was formed. The members were a number of ex-soap actors including David Reyne, Tottie Goldsmith and Ally Fowler. I have chosen this group to talk to you about due to their beginnings as soap actors to singers. By far the most famous and successful of these converts from soap operas has been Kylie Minogue. Kylie Minogue's music career kicked off in 1987 when she released her first single, a version of the '60s hit Locomotion. The song was number 1 on Australian charts for seven weeks, and was the biggest selling Australian single of the decade. Many more hits have followed.
