The growing sports lead to more people becoming interested and becoming part of culture with more people than every playing, attending games and viewing games on television.
Women’s role in sport was growing, as they demanded equal rights in their movements in the 1980’s and 1990’s in social, political and cultural life and now demanding equality to men on the sporting scene. Equal opportunity laws made it illegal to discriminate against a person on the grounds of sex, marital status or pregnancy. Now as it women couldn’t be treated second best, they could receive membership in sporting clubs. An example of growing sport in the 1980’s in women’s cricket, where Australia one the world cup in 1981/82 and 1988/89. Despite success they in funding, media coverage and crowd size. This period for womens sport has allowed it to grow in the years to come.
Austrlian Institute of sport (AIS) is training for an up and coming elite atletes to harness there skills with other similar athletes. It open in 1981 and is situated in canberra. Each sport has there own sub-branch scamedy that is alingned with the AIS. Some of the most notable athletes since the creation in the 1980’s are Glenn Mcgrath, Ricky Pointing, Mark Viduka, and JohnEales.
